Liver Detox Soup
The liver acts as the project manager of the body, coordinating over 500 essential functions crucial to maintaining our overall health. Among its many roles, the liver detoxifies harmful substances, processes nutrients from the food we eat, regulates blood sugar levels, produces bile to aid in digestion, and stores essential vitamins and minerals. Additionally, it synthesizes proteins like albumin and clotting factors, regulates cholesterol levels, and plays a key role in hormone balance. The liver ensures that all these processes are running smoothly, making it a vital organ in keeping the body balanced and functioning efficiently.
This liver detox soup is a nourishing blend of vibrant, nutrient-packed vegetables and healing herbs designed to support liver health and overall detoxification. Each spoonful is filled with earthy, cleansing ingredients that work together to help your body eliminate toxins and promote digestion. The bouquet garni filled with medicinal herbs known for their liver-supportive properties helps to further support the liver and enhances the detoxifying effect. This soup can be enjoyed on its own or blended for a smoother, more comforting texture—perfect for nourishing your body from the inside out.

1 medium organic green cabbage (cut into small pieces)
1 bunch organic celery (sliced)
1 bunch organic green onions (cut into small pieces)
2 organic green bell peppers (diced)
1 bunch organic parsley (rough chop into small pieces)
2 bunches organic cilantro (rough chop into small pieces)
Salt to taste (Baja Gold or Celtic sea salt)
Juice of 3 organic lemons
Organic chicken bone broth (optional)
Bouquet Garni: organic dandelion root, milk thistle and stinging nettle (you can also place all items in an unbleached tea bag and tie to the pot handle)
Instructions:
In a large soup pot add all ingredients except for the parsley, cilantro and lemon juice. Fill pot with bone broth or water, tie your bouquet garni around a handle on the pot to hold it in place and bring to a boil. Boil for about 25 minutes or until all ingredients are tender. Once all items are fork tender, remove bouquet garni and add in the parsley, cilantro and lemon juice. Serve as is, or blend with an immersion blender for a smoother texture. Enjoy!
